Rain or sunshine, these superb National Geographic 8 x 42mm binoculars are the perfect companion when it comes to walking, bird watching and watching sporting events. The design is extremely attractive whilst being practical at the same time and, when not in use, they fold down to make them easier to store.

Factory sealed, these are completely waterproof and can even be used in a marine environment or other harsh conditions. Filled with nitrogen, the binoculars completely resist even the smallest amounts of water and so prevent the annoying ‘fogging’ experience you can get with cheaper binoculars. When they get dirty, a quick splash under the tap and wipe with a soft, clean cloth makes them as good as new.

8x magnification is great for general use and gives an excellent degree of comfort even over extended periods. However, for prolonged viewing, it is possible to attach a tripod using an adaptor (not supplied). The 42 mm lenses give a good level of brightness but are of a size which keeps the overall dimensions of the binoculars down, so making them easy to carry and store. The combination of 42 mm lenses and 8x magnification offers a high brightness factor, allowing use even in twilight conditions.

A big feature of these binoculars is the use of the renowned BaK-4 optics which provides exceptional brightness, clarity and colour rendition. In practice, BaK-4 optics gives a quality level normally only offered by binoculars that fall in a much higher end range.

Most people have eyes with individual prescriptions, and this doesn’t pose a problem when using these excellent binoculars. Thanks to an individual eye adjustment (dioptre control), the user simply sets the lenses once and after that, the focussing will always be set perfectly. The central focussing control then makes it easy to view objects which are near or far.

The binoculars have a special rubber armour coating which helps protect them from the rigours of the great outdoors. For even more protection, when not in use, they can be kept in the special case which is provided. A handy neck strap completes the package making this an ideal gift.
